We buy items from players, hold them, and sell them to other players. That is the whole business. There is no bot on the other end of a trade and no drop-shipping from somewhere else — if the shop says a thing is in stock, it is sitting in one of our vaults right now.

When somebody starts a purchase, their items are held immediately — before they pay. That is why a quantity can drop while you are looking at it, and it is deliberate: we would rather show you a smaller true number than sell the same sword twice and apologise to one of you afterwards.

Every item carries what it actually cost us, lot by lot, in the order it was bought. Prices come from that cost and the day’s gold rate — not from what a competitor is asking. It is also why a discount here has a floor: we will not sell below what a thing cost, and the system refuses to let anyone do it by accident.
